We are all so gullible

Isn't it funny how the cheapest ad campaigns...

right up to the most expensive ones...

all count on us to be gullible?

This new mascara claims to extend, separate and multiply your lashes by providing 7000 oscillations per minute.

Oscillating mascara. For when your lashes have ARDS.

How Facebook Can Ruin Your Friendships

I do find it super annoying when newspaper columnists tell us "how we should conduct ourselves" online. But wouldn't it be awesome if facebook had an "eyball roll" function?

Time to hitch a ride on the Splenda express

(creative common photo courtesy of bookgrl)

Well, I guess the party's over. Gestational diabetes is here to stay. I've been craving bagels and chocolate this week. Just ate an onion bagel, followed by a scant serving of chocolate Teddy Grahams. Post prandial blood sugar? 170.

It's been great while it lasted. In the beginning of this pregnancy I started out avoiding all sugar, but then I started giving myself mini-challenges to see what I could handle. On my best day, I had a ramen noodles followed by not one, but 2(!) packages of tastykake peanut butter candycakes. Post prandial blood sugar? 121.

That was a good day.

On a positve note, there's nothing quite as effective in managing your weight as having to be accountable to a little tiny machine called a glucometer.

Fun With Nurse Jackie

So this is kind of fun.

Some of you may have noticed I've taken the big leap and deleted all of my wordpress files off of PixelRN. The google traffic still seems to be trickling in, so instead of losing all that traffic, I decided to figure out how to customize my own "404 File not found" page. I used this article and it was a cinch.

Cool, I thought. Now I can take some of the more popular pages that used to exist on pixelrn.com and redirect them to their new home on posterous.

Then it occured to me that pixelRN.com is on page 1 for a google image search for Nurse Jackie, and I've been getting tons of hits for it. So I decided to have some fun with it and came up with this new Nurse Jackie page, using a creative commons photo from flickr. So now when people come in search of a Nurse Jackie picture, they'll see this:

Anyhoo. Bottom line is that I learned how easy it is to create a custom 404 page. And things like that make me happy.

BTW, I'm still getting hits for things like "nurse around during erection" thanks to the scum suckity hackers. So now I'm off to build a redirect page that just says,

GO AWAY PERVS!

Hungry yet?

So I've been sporadically checking my blood sugar during this pregnancy. I know I'm at risk for more gestational diabetes, but I refuse to take that god-awful glucose tolerance test.

Anyhow, just ate my favorite sandwich of all time (an onion bagel with swiss cheese, tomato and mayo) + 3 fig newtons. Checked my sugar 60 minutes later and it was 128. Target blood glucose level for one hour post-prandial is 140.

Victory is mine!

Paper Jam Press

paperjampress

After spending a little too much time in front of the computer my friend Arianna thought she’d get back to basics and get her hands dirty. She makes these posters because cutting giant stacks of paper, setting wood type and scrubbing ink off her hands feels good.
